ALEX MONAGHAN YOUTH PROGRAM

MAKING COMMUNITY SERVICE FUN!

Through education, experience, and support by youth, created with youth, and implemented for youth, the Carion Fenn Foundation's programming empowers young people to work together, support one another, and gain valuable experience. Participants complete the community service hours required for high school graduation while preparing for college, university, trades, or the workforce. This program is proudly funded by the Pickering Mayor’s Gala and supported by Mayor Kevin Ashe, Karen O’Brien, Ontario Shores, Lakeridge Health, and others.

SHARING ALEX'S STORY

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month in the City of Pickering this November, I’m sharing Alex’s story to help raise awareness about mental health challenges in our community and to encourage support for those who are struggling. As many of you know, I tragically lost my son Alex to suicide on April 1, 2018. He was just 27 years old. By putting a face to mental illness, we hope to break the stigma and inspire more open conversations about mental health. - Karen O'Brien. Learn more <click here>
