November: Mental Health Awareness Month
Carion Fenn Foundation, Ms. Karen O'Brien, Mayor Kevin Ashe & Council invite you to join us for our 2nd Annual Mental Health Month Flag Raising Ceremony on November 12, 2024, 11AM at the City of Pickering, City Hall, One The Esplanade, Pickering ON L1V 6K7, Canada in recognition of those impacted by Mental Health and honouring the legacy of Alex Monaghan. Let's raise awareness and show support for mental health initiatives in our community. Together, we can break the stigma and promote mental well-being.
Alex is the son of Ms. Karen O'Brien and Mayor Kevin Ashe who loss their son to suicide on April 1, 2018. Ms. O'Brien said, "Alex had struggled with depression periodically for years. He also struggled with substance abuse, which we have learned often goes hand in hand with depression. Alex always had a smile on his face, we know now that it was a mask."
Join us for this important event and be a part of the movement towards a healthier and happier society. In attendance will be Mayor Kevin Ashe, Ms. Karen O'Brien, City of Pickering Council members, Staff, Carion Fenn Foundation, community members, organizations, AND we hope.... YOU! The Flag will be flown from November 12 - 26, 2024 to encourage "Best Mental Health".
