Support for ALL, where economic Status does NOT matter!
Our Community Support Programs include: AJAX Food Drive - donations received from Organizations such as Nofrils, Shoppers Drug Mart, Freshco and other company's which we distribute to the general public FREE; our Ajax Homeless Network - providing Food, Clothes and other items donated to us from our community members and organizations for our Homeless community members; and our Ajax Christmas Gift Drive - where we provide a bag of items that are essential and needed FREE to our homeless community members. We work hard to ensure that we remove stigma's and barriers so that everyone feel valued to access support. Rich, poor, middle class, it does not matter. We don't collect your information to access this program. Our mission is to make a positive impact.
On selected Saturdays 12pm - 2pm as posted on our "Town of Ajax Neighbours" Facebook Page, we provide Bread, Bagel, Hot Dog Bun, Hamburger Bun, Wraps etc along with donated to us from various grocery stores free of charge available to ALL community members. Since July 2023, we have distributed and supported the community with over $20,000 worth of food support. Our community volunteers donate their time to pick up the items & get it ready so that the community members can have access to food for their families while feeling valued in accessing support.
Through the support of our community and businesses, we provide food, clothing and essential items supporting our Town of Ajax Homeless community over 70 homeless individuals living in the Town of Ajax. We are grateful and welcome your support of volunter time, items or monetary donations to help us continue to help others. Please contact us, if you have any items to donate, or use our Donate Now button to donate to our program. Thank you.
Bags of Love: Christmas is a time of love, caring and supporting each other. Join us in ensuring that our Homeless Community members in the Town of Ajax, get fed and receive a gift of love with essential and other items needed to show that they are not alone, and we care about them. Lynne Leyland and her daughter Elizabeth Leyland put together 20 bags with items donated from their family and various entities. Sadly, in the first year, there was a large line up and we wish we had more to give. This left us with a hole in our hearts in feeling a sense of needing to do more to help. As we move forward wtih this project we are hoping to add more bags, and we would love to have your support. If you could donate any items or money to our Charity to help us create more bags, it would be greatly appreciated. We understand that things are tuff. If you can't contribute, no worries. We appreciate you and appreciate us all supporting each other even if it’s just giving a smile or donating your time. This project is done in honour of the memories of Kim Thompson.
Elizabeth Leyland bags of love is intended to help support the homeless community. In 2022, Elizabth Leyland donated 20 bags of food and essential items needed by the homeless community in Town of Ajax. The demand and need was do high, we ran out of bags. But for those who received it, it was exptremely appreciated. This made a big difference for the homeless knowing that there are other who care and this was how Ms. Fenn met Max who died at the Ajax Pickering Hospital. Max lived in his car on the streets of the Town of Ajax. He was taken out of his car to the Emergency Room at the Ajax Pickering Hospital, where he was in a Coma. Ms. Fenn went to his bed side as soon as she heard so that Max knew and felt that he was not alone as she did not want him to die alone or die not knowing that someone in Ajax cares about him. Ms. Fenn with his family was at Max's hospital bed side as he took his last breathe and she ensured that his favour song played as he ransition. It was telling Max about who Elizbeth is, her project, "Elizabeth Leyland Bags of love that led to him letting Ms. Fenn where to find him if he was not at the Tim Horton's in the Town of Ajax. This allowed Ms. Fenn to drop off food etc to Max each week. It was later known to Ms. Fenn that Max have a daughter who is autistic and hearing about what Elizabeth has been doing resignated with him and he gave us his trust in knowing where he was and how find him in order for us to help support him.
